The student must complete the 8-hour initial training, apply with BSIS through BreEZe, complete Live Scan fingerprinting, and finish the additional required training within the California deadlines after issuance or employment.
This site concept is designed around online course delivery. Application and Live Scan fingerprinting still happen through external state and fingerprint processes.
After the initial course, the student applies through BreEZe, completes Live Scan, and waits for BSIS processing. The remaining 32 hours follow after registration issuance or employment begins.
The BSIS application fee is $60. DOJ and FBI fingerprint fees total $49, and the Live Scan operator’s rolling fee varies by location.
Timing varies. BSIS publishes current application processing timeframes, and background check timing can extend the total wait.
